# Search and Filter Contacts in Contacts Pro
As your contact list grows, finding the right person quickly becomes important. Contacts Pro gives you three complementary tools: a search box, an alphabetical filter, and pagination. This page explains how each one works.
# Search for a contact
The search box sits in the top toolbar of Contacts Pro, next to the display-mode button. Just start typing; the results update automatically a moment after you stop, so there is no button to press.
- 1
Click the search box at the top of Contacts Pro, next to the display-mode button.
- 2
Type what you are looking for (a name, a company, a job title, and so on).
- 3
Wait a moment; the list refreshes on its own to show only the matching contacts.
- 4
Clear the box to return to the full list.
# Which fields does the search look in?
Search is not limited to names. Contacts Pro looks across several fields at once, so you can find a person even if you only remember their company or department. The search covers:
- Name
- Job title
- Company
- Department
- Notes
- Groups
- Address
# Use the alphabetical filter
Along the side of the contact list you will find an A to Z alphabet picker. It lets you jump straight to the contacts whose name starts with a given letter.
- 1
Click a letter in the A to Z picker along the side of the list.
- 2
The list immediately shows only the contacts whose name begins with that letter.
- 3
Click the same letter again to remove the filter and show all contacts.
# Move through pages
When your list contains more contacts than fit on a single page, Contacts Pro splits them across several pages and shows a row of page controls.
- 1
Use the arrow buttons to move to the previous or next page.
- 2
Click a page number to jump directly to that page; the current page is highlighted.
For long lists, the first and last pages stay visible and the in-between pages are shortened with an ellipsis so the controls stay readable.
# Troubleshooting
If you cannot find a contact you expect to see, check whether a search term or an alphabet letter is still active, and remember that the contacts you can reach may be limited by your subscription tier. If you still need help, contact our support team.
